Moon Tae-il (Hangul: 문태일) referred to as TAEIL (Hangul: 태일) is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and composer, born in Jangan-dong, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul on June 14, 1994. He is a main vocalist of NCT U and NCT 127.
Life and Career[]
Early Life[]
Moon Tae-il was born on June 14, 1994, in Seoul, South Korea. His family consists of his mother, father and a younger sister. When he was young, he dreamed of becoming a zookeeper, but he listened to Stevie Wonder which made him want to become a singer.
In 2013, TAEIL was discovered by SM Entertainment talent scouts at the Youth Singing Contest. At that time, TAEIL had been admitted to the Music Department of Hanyang University. After a week of careful consideration, he decided to become a college student. Soon, he changed his mind and decided to become a singer.
2013-2016: Trainee & SMROOKIES Period[]
TAEIL participated in various SM Entertainment projects during his time as a trainee and SMROOKIES member. In December 2013, he participated in the opening performance of the SMTOWN WEEK concert alongside his now-NCT co-members. In October 2014, he sang Kim Mingyo's - "The Last Game" for EXO's variety show "EXO 90:2014". From August 15, 2015, he participated with the SMROOKIE BOYS in the regular concert "SMROOKIES SHOW''. On October 13, 2015, he was officially announced as a member of SM Rookies. On January 27, 2016, he sang the OST "Because of You'' for the soundtrack of the series The Merchant: Gaekju 2015.
2016–present: Debut with NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT 2018[]
On April 3, 2016, TAEIL was confirmed as a member of NCT's first sub-unit, NCT U, on April 9, 2016, he officially debuted with NCT U's digital single, "WITHOUT YOU". On July 1, 2016, TAEIL was confirmed as a member of NCT's second sub-unit, NCT 127, on July 6, 2016, he officially made his second debut with NCT 127's "Fire Truck", with the mini-album NCT#127. On December 20, 2016, he along with NCT co-member DOYOUNG collaborated with other labelmates released a digital single "Sound of Your Heart" for the project SM STATION Season 1.
On January 30, 2018, it was confirmed that all NCT members will come together with the project NCT 2018, he participated in NCT 127's "TOUCH" which was released on March 13. On March 14, 2018, they released the first full-length album, NCT 2018 EMPATHY.
In September 2020, it was announced confirmed that all NCT members will come together with the project NCT 2020 and would be releasing their second full-album as a whole, on October 12, NCT 2020 RESONANCE Pt. 1, and the second part NCT RESONANCE Pt.2 on November 23. In the first album, he participated in "Music Dance" BY NCT 127, and he joined NCT U with the titled track "From Home" and B-side tracks "Dancing In The Rain", "Faded In My Last Song". In the second album, he participated in NCT U's B-side track "Raise The Roof", and "My Everything". On December 4, NCT 2020 released the final single, "RESONANCE".
On March 30, 2019, he collaborated with labelmate Sohlhee with the digital single "Purple". On April 11, 2021, he collaborated with Moon Sujin with the single "The Moon".
