Lee Tae-yong (Hangul: 이태용) referred to as TAEYONG (Hangul: 태용) is a South Korean rapper, singer, dancer and songwriter, born in Sillim-dong, Gwanak-gu, Seoul on July 1, 1995. He is the center, main rapper, main dancer, and leader of NCT and NCT 127. He is also part of NCT U. In 2019, he debuted in the K-pop supergroup SuperM.

Training and childhood
- TAEYONG was a trainee for 4 years.
- He was accepted to SM Entertainment through a street cast in South Korea.
- TAEYONG, along with JENO and Seulgi, was introduced as an SMROOKIES member on December 3, 2013.[2]
- He has been trained in singing, rapping, and dancing in SM.
- TAEYONG joined in 2012 and debuted in 2016.

Casting story
Street-casted in front of his high school, he was persuaded by an SM employee by buying him toast. He came in late for 30 minutes for his audition in Apgujeong-dong and got lost because he originally thought about the employee who had said that he was to audition into the big three company and he understood it as MBC, KBS, and SBS, who were the three major broadcasting companies and not entertainment companies. He sang the National hymn of South Korea and did a bit of popping dance and got accepted. He was once discouraged and given up upon by his dance teacher but he emerged as the face of the group, center, main dancer, main rapper, main visual, sub vocalist, composer, producer, lyricist, choreographer, and leader of NCT.
