This page outlines on how to cite and add references to articles, like this.[1]
When and why to cite
References should be included in an article when support or clarification is needed on a subject matter. This is to provide proof that it is right and can be verified.
Where to cite
References must be added in the artist's history, career, trivia sections or wherever information needs support. They do not, however, have to be added for common knowledge information (eg. The sky is blue, KUN is a member of WayV) and content like image/video teasers, album information & release dates (which can be easy to find & readily available from a member’s SNS and music platform).
Where to get information from
Appropriate:
- Official websites
- Official artist accounts (eg. Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
- News & media outlets (eg. Yonhap, Korea Herald, Mwave)
- Pop blogs (eg. Allkpop, Soompi (excluding user-generated articles))
- Online music charts/stores (eg. Gaon, MelOn, Synnara)
Discretionary (if properly linked):
- Translation SNS accounts
- Translation YouTube accounts and videos
Not appropriate:
- Fan accounts (eg. personal/non-artist Twitter)
- Fan sites & blogs (eg. Tumblr, Amino)
- Public forums (eg. OneHallyu, Allkpop Forum. However, you can use them to find other references)
- Other wikis or resource sites (eg. Kprofiles, Wikipedia. However, you can use them to find other references)
How to cite
To create a reference, simply switch to source mode while editing and then place your text inside <ref>[Link followed by title]</ref> tags. In source mode, the first sentence on this page would look like this:
- 'Good Life' is a medium-tempo R&B song that combines light rap and singing to depict the story of moving toward a beautiful life.<ref>[https://smtown.com/production/album/11755 WayV ‘Phantom – The 4th Mini Album’]</ref>
Repeated use
If you want to use the same reference again in an article, first replace <ref> with <ref name=" "> at the beginning of the reference in question, then place the second, third etc. usage as <ref name=" "/> (with the end slash!). Please use an appropriate name in between the quotations.
<ref name="">[Link then title]</ref> <ref name=""/>
<ref name="nylon">[https://www.nylon.com/entertainment/get-to-know-nct-yearbook-feature Nylon October 2020 interview]</ref> <ref name="nylon"/>
Listing
At the end of the page, create a section and include the code <references />. This will create a numbered listing of your citations[2].
